I found these close to our campsite in the morning!
We were given these for our shower since water is sparse. Each token gives you 7 minutes of water. We each got two. Matt was kind and offered me his second. I really should have considered a shorter hairstyle before this trip!
After tearing down our campsite, we drove into Albequerque, New Mexico. Being big Breaking Bad fans, we were pretty excited!
Matt saw signs for this, geeked out and had to go. I decided to sit outside and finish the blog. Matt needed his space to enjoy the museum instead of spending the whole time attempting to explain everything to me. I'm not sure what went on in the museum but when he came out he was pretty excited! I found a video on his phone that I was going to share of him in the museum but I can't figure out how to post it with my phone :( I'll see if I can figure out how to post it to Facebook, so stay posted!
After the museum, we decided to check out an old diner a couple of towns away.
This is where we had lunch. It wasn't the 50's diner I was wanting but it has always been on Route 66 and used to be called Uranium Cafe, so it was still a neat place to eat.
The other side of the sign was the original sign which I thought was pretty cool!
Here's what we got! I ordered the Route 66 Mushroom and Swiss. Matt decided to be more adventurous and ordered The Millie. This is the burger they are known for and it even won a state competition a couple of years ago. The Millie had two hamburger patties, cheddar, Swiss, bacon, tomato, onion, guacamole, and green chile- all layerd on a buttery, toasted hamburger bun. I had a bite and it was delicious! A bit spicy for me but still very very yummy!
All through the desert.
We drove on a 17 mile dirt road that required 4 wheel drive in order to get a closer look at the monuments.
Matt loved off roading!
I was amazed by the beauty of creation. I have a feeling we are going to have a lot of moments of sheer amazement on this trip.
We got a Monument Valley selfie!
We enjoyed watching the sunset on the drive.
After 2 hours we finally made it to Page. We have been pretty lucky with getting our sites booked in mid afternoon and having a place to stay that evening. Most people are still in school so there aren't many other tourists around. Because we were in the desert all day, I had no cell phone service to call. We arrived in Page with no place to stay. Apparently all the tourists are in Page, Arizona because everywhere was booked! After about an hour of looking we finally found a place to stay! Don't worry mom, we have tonight and tomorrow booked already!
Today we are on to explore Page, Arizona and Antelope Canyon! What all is there to do and see in Page, Arizona?!
