Antelope Canyon- Day 5

Good news! I might have figured out how to post videos! It might show up as just a link instead of an embedded video where you can just push play. If it shows up as just a link and you know how to embed it then please share your knowledge!

This is the video I talked about in my last post of Matt geeking out in the nuclear museum.

Moving onto activities of yesterday!

Yesterday we went to the lower Canyons of Antelope Canyon. The Canyons are owned by Navajo Native Americans so they charge outrageous amounts to see the canyons. They seem pretty salty to the white tourists but I think I'd be salty too if the US government didn't consider me an American citizen until 1924. Even though they charged a lot, Matt was able to use his bargaining skills and he found us a great deal!

This is the top of the lower Antelope Canyons. We went down into it.

Using these stairs.

I'm excited!

Matt's excited!

Matt being a weirdo!

Where'd he go?!

Matt standing in the canyon.

The sun shining down into the canyon. We picked the perfect time of day to go (12:30pm). The sun was right overhead and it really brought out all of the beautiful colors in the rocks. The camera really doesn't do it justice!

This picture was taken by a young French couple we made friends with in the canyons. They were on a month long tour of America. We are hoping to run into them again when we get to Yosemite.

This picture was taken by our tour guide. She was great, giving us advice to make sure our pictures captured the true beauty of the canyons.

The orange and purple of the rock was a beautiful contrast to the blue sky. This view is looking up out of the canyon.

Some of the rocks had names.

This is an eagle! Do you see the eagle head jutting out of the rock?

This is lady in the wind. See her face and her hair flowing back behind her to the left?

This is happy shark! See him to the right?!

Last picture of Antelope Canyon.

After Antelope Canyon we checked into our campsite. Matt booked this site and it was a great find! It was really clean with a beautiful view of the mountains. There were also a lot of people camping near us that recently graduated college too so it was cool to be surrounded by a lot of people our age!

After checking in we went on a 3 hour hike around the city of Page.

Here's a short clip of Matt hiking.

The view from the trail. We hiked around the top of the canyons around the city. The view was incredible, again the pictures don't do it justice!

We saw some wildlife on our hike!

We saw a lot of little lizards!

And these bugs that were bright blue (it doesn't really look blue in the picture).

We also saw a few rabbits and a hare! It had huge ears and feet! We were in amazement when we saw it so we didn't get to grab our camera in time to capture a picture! We also saw a lot of holes that I thought were snake holes but little chipmunk looking animals were running in and out of them. Luckily we didn't see any rattlesnakes but Matt did trick me a couple of times, scaring me half to death!

We also saw Barbie chilling topless in te canyon. Do you see her? Someone has a sense of humor!

We took a selfie on the trail!

Matt taking it all in.

Me taking it all in. (That's red dirt on my calves, not a weird sunburn!)

After our hike we went back to our campsite. We set up out tent, made dinner, and planned our next day!

Today we are onto the Grand Canyon, Havasau Falls, and Lava River Cave. For those of you who have our itinerary, we are veering from it a bit today. We are a day ahead of schedule and Matt found some things he would like to check out so we are doing that!

If anyone has suggestions of things we should check out near Flagstaff, Arizona then let us know!
