Big Trees!- Day 9

We started our day off yesterday by packing up and saying goodbye to the beauties of Malibu to explore the wonders of Sequoia National Park. It was a long day of driving!

We stopped here on the way. We heard it was tasty and since we don't have In-N-Out Burger in Ohio, we thought we would try it!

This was the deliciousness we got! We both got cheeseburgers. The patties didn't seem to be pre-made, frozen patties like at McDonalds. They were more like Steak and Shake patties. On each burger was a thick slab of onions and tomato and fresh, crispy lettuce. All smathered with gooey cheddar cheese and a sauce that tasted similar to Big Mac sauce. The fries were tasty too! Matt ordered animal fries which are fries piled with sauce, onions, and cheese. Artery clogging goodness!

After our healthy, hearty lunch we continued onto Seqouia National Park! On this drive, California started reminding me of Florida (except for huge mountains in the background). There were large orange groves everywhere! We also saw grape vineyards and olive trees!

The orange groves made us hungry for oranges so when we saw this big orange along the road we had to stop! There was no one working the stand. It seemed to be a "self-serve" stand. We picked out our oranges and put our money in a box on the counter, we were impressed with how trusting the owners were!

After our long drive, we finally made it to Sequoia National Park!

It was beautiful!

And the trees were huge!

We drove along the main road in the forest for a couple of hours and took in the beauty!

We even got to drive under a fallen Sequoia!

Matt got a picture with the roots!

We decided to get out of the car and do a bit of hiking to see "General Sherman"- the world's largest tree by volume.

He was huge!

We couldn't even see the top!

Matt taking it all in!

Me taking it all in!

The hike there and back was beautiful! The greens of the plants were so green and the reds of the Redwoods were so red and beautiful. The huge, mossy rocks throughout the forest were gorgeous! It was chilly and there was still snow along the base of some of the trees. A low, light fog made it seem like we were in a different world. We kept saying things like "this isn't real, this has to be fake!" That seems to be a common phrase this trip! It really felt like we were in a different world and we were just waiting for hobbits to pop out from behind the rocks!

Again, so beautiful!

After our adventures in Sequoia National Park, we drove 3 hours to our campsite.

We were blessed again with another evening ending in a stunning sunset.

Last picture, I promise!

We are now at Yosemite and will be here until Saturday. What are some most sees and have to hikes?
